Calling all corgis! The incorrigible Corgi Con returns to Ocean Beach this weekend. Saturday’s twice-annual running of the pups known as NorCal Corgi Con is expected to attract hundreds of the stubby-legged competitors in cuteness, as last October’s autumn Corgi Con event drew more than 700 corgis.
Corgi Con is held twice every year at Ocean Beach, essentially right across from the Beach Chalet. The main event is the Corgi Races scheduled for 1 p.m. in which multiple heats will see the winners advance to a final round, and prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers.

But there’s an orgy of corgi events lined up for the entire day. At 11:30 a.m., there will be a group photo in which dog owners will attempt to spell out the word “corgi” with dogs. (It might take fur-ever to get that organized.) Then at Noon, the new Corgi Ninja Warrior competition will present a timed agility course to determine the most doggone skilled corgi.
