Police found no shooter after reports of an armed person was reported inside the Sutter Health and SEIU 1021 union building at 350 Rhode Island St on Monday.

“The @seiu1021 building in Potrero Hill has been evacuated. There is an armed person somewhere upstairs (not in our office) and the #sfpd SWAT is here,” wrote Nato Green on Twitter.

As of 2 p.m., police have not determined any shots fired or injuries but are still asking the public to avoid the area, says spokesperson Officer Adam Lobsinger. Officers first responded to reports of a possible active shooter at the building at Rhode Island and 16th streets around 12:45 p.m.

The Examiner reports that a worker in the building saw a report on the crime reporting app, Citizen, and told their spouse, who called 911. The timestamp on the first Citizen post marks 12:46 p.m.

Citizen offered the update that it “may be related to an earlier report of a person with a stick outside of a nearby building.” Indeed, “Man Armed With Metal Object” was reported at the same address at 12:20 p.m. that includes notes about a man reportedly swinging a weapon around and taking off his pants.

SFMTA rerouted several bus lines — 22-Fillmore, 55-16th Street, 10-Townsend, and 19-Polk —  around the closed area to Carolina and 15th streets before returning to 16th Street. The 9-San Bruno, 9R-San Bruno, and 33-Ashbury/18th lines are rerouted via Bryant Street between 21st and 24th streets.

The building also houses a parking garage and software company Samsara.

This is a breaking news story. Stay tuned.
