Two separate crashes sent two pedestrians to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Tuesday, police say Wednesday.

A driver on Persia Avenue and Moscow Street — near John McLaren Park in the Excelsior — reportedly heard a sound at 3:13 p.m. Tuesday before he got out of the truck and found someone underneath. He backed the truck off the 61-year-old woman before officials sent her to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Less than one hour later, another crash occurred on Fifth Avenue and Kirkham Street, near UCSF Medical Center in the Inner Sunset. A 56-year-old woman was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Both women are still in the hospital with life-threatening injuries as of Wednesday afternoon, police say.

A 69-year-old man was killed in a crash with a parked car on Saturday, becoming the first cyclist killed in San Francisco in 2018.
